Given all that family and friends dished out on him, I'm surprised that: (a) he hadn't been institutionalized; and (b) his revenge was so weak...poison ivy/oak for most folks, a few days of prednisone will handle that.

Ironic that I'm hopped up on prednisone & some antibiotics that I think are called Godzilla. I've got pneumonia gagantuosa, & lo & behold your story speaks to me. I love the sweet, gentleness of this story, how so many people show their concern & caring. The worst thing after a rape is the loneliness & I'm glad that wasn't part of the mix. Metformin is a drug to control glucose when you have diabetes II. I know because i just took one of my two daily for that condition. However, that wouldn't explain her behavior. Apparently there must be a more complicated hormonal disfunction. Too simple an answer though.
Also, remember in Chapter 1 the repeated regret over The Bet. What was that bet? Hasn't been mentioned since.
Carvohi is an excellent writer. I'm sure, or I hope, this will all be tied together.
Well written but it does feel like it's being drawn out just to fill more chapters.

I don’t think the depression, mood swings and anxiety (among other things) are the result of Bi-Polar, but symptoms of another condition, which can be explained by most of those drugs, Gary found at Jessie’s flat. “Serophone” is not something I’ve stumbled across, during my research, but I did come across a drug called Serophene - though, I doubt that Jessie was trying to conceive again! The Metformin was the one that really caught my eye. Typically, it’s used to treat Type 2 Diabetes, but it can also be prescribed to women with PolyCystic Ovary Syndrome - the symptoms of which are mood swings, depression and anxiety, among others - along with Folic Acid.
Of course, it’s probable that I’m wrong - but, I’m not going to peek at the “other place”, to see if I was right or not! I’m content to wait until Chapter 9 and find out, like everyone else :-)

The story's still pretty good in a silly sort of way, but shouldn't the sun be up by now? There's going to be a lot of commuter traffic, and I bet a lot of people are double parked. Can't remember the name of the island in the Arctic where they think the last Mammoths lived. Save that damn pachyderm; I heard some nefarious Zambians were out to get his tusks.
These things should all be getting fives; for balls if nothing else. (Elephants have big balls)
Oh, oh I just felt a rush of blood to the head! The damn Prednisone is kicking in. By for now...
